Realverso is a digital environment in the form of a metaverse, aimed at raising awareness of the sustainable development objectives of the UN 2030 agenda together with an innovative promotion of the Italian territory starting from Basilicata and Sicily. In this environment it is possible to carry out synchronous interaction between avatars (through voice and reactions) and between avatars and objects, exploiting real-virtual interaction thanks to the internet of things implemented in digital twins, i.e. points of interest in the territory (e.g. castle lights, fountain) appropriately interconnected via sensors and actuators with the relevant virtual model in the metaverse.

Furthermore, the "ethical" actions carried out within the Realverso generate "ethical coinage" to customize areas or your avatar or to interact with digital twins. The Realverso is an intergenerational product with a simple and empathetic design, which aims to increase the level of attractiveness of the villages and make them eternal by preserving their historical and cultural memory thanks to realistic 3D reconstruction, to promote local products through digital shops, to revive the history of "ghost" villages.

The project in concept form was selected by the CNR and presented at the Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange of Paestum at the end of October 2022. The project won the Top of the Pid 2023 award in the Tourism category at the Maker Faire in Rome, the 'innovation. The project also received a special mention at the Digital Agenda 2023 award, organized by Osservatori Digital Innovation of the School of Management of the Polytechnic of Milan and the third prize at the Top of the PID Mirabilia 2023.

The project is supported by the Ente Pro Loco Italiane, the Ente Pro Loco Basilicata, the Mirabilia Network association (network of UNESCO chambers of commerce in Italy), the municipalities of Barile, Brindisi Montagna, Campomaggiore, Chiaromonte, Craco, Pisticci, Potenza, Satriano di Lucania, Stigliano and Lipari.
