The i am me app is a positive mental health app focused on supporting young people from secondary school age and beyond to be able to cope and understand how they can be proactive in looking after their own mental health and well-being. The app has been created for young people by young people and covers a vast range of topics relevant to the challenges that young people face growing up in today’s technological and social media driven world. Through positive psychology the app takes each young user on a journey of self-exploration discovering more about themselves and understanding what they need to do to have better balance in today’s fast paced world. The app is not only a knowledge sharing platform but is interactive, incorporates videos and audio and enables each young user to track how they feeling, monitoring their own levels of happiness, gratitude, stress and headspace amongst many other things. Each content area is educational and broadens the user’s knowledge on the given subject and also provides top tips of different things that they can incorporate into their daily lives to make simple changes towards creating more positive mental health. The i am me app is about empowering young people to regain control and a time when things may feel out of control. It is about positioning mental health as something that is as important as physical health so that it becomes second nature for each young user to support their own mental health and well-being with an overall aim of reducing the statistics surrounding mental health in young people.
