The Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil 1988, promulgated on October 5, 1988, is the supreme and fundamental law of Brazil, serving as a valid parameter to all other normative species, standing on top of the legal system. Can be considered the seventh or eighth constitution of Brazil (depending on whether or not to consider Constitutional Amendment No. 1 as a constitutional text) and the sixth or seventh century on a Brazilian constitutional republic.
