Almighty Allah says in Surah Al-Ghaafir paragraph 60 of his commentary:

"And your Lord says:" Pray unto Me and I will hear your prayer. Those who are too arrogant to worship Me will enter Hell in humiliation. "

Prayer is worship and prayer is also the weapon of the believer. Allah Almighty ordered His servants to pray and ask Him.
