There are many possibilities for exploiting the potential of sensorial marketing in tourism and they can really make a difference in terms of involvement, creation of memories and public sentiment.
Traveling does not mean "just" visiting a new destination, traveling means completely immersing yourself in a reality yet to be revealed, through multiple experiences that can, and must, be lived, perceived, felt: precisely with all the senses.
Even in synesthesia and with the "sixth sense", intuition, LIGHT, the one defined by Plato as the highest function of intelligence because it is capable of arriving at knowledge without passing through reason.
And so, also EXPERIENTIAL TOURISM, focused on the experience of a country, a city or a particular place, interacting actively and significantly with its history, people, culture, food and environment, the local community, and ROOTS TOURISM, based on the search for one's family origins, on the recovery of places and traditions, etc., open up new ways of multi-sensory enjoyment and new narrative and creative formats, to allow one to appreciate the culture of the beauty of places through an experience that can be lived not only naturally with sight, but also with the other senses. Storytelling as an active element of identity, from the insiders' side, and a tool for branding the territory, from the outsiders' side.
