Used to monitor battery temperature for battery care or other scientific purposes like research. The battery temperature will give a good overall indication of the phone temperature.

If the phone is drawing little power from the battery and is not charging the battery temperature indicator will be close to room/ambient temeprature. Like when it is in flight mode and not doing much.
