The Bundesliga is sometimes referred to as the Fußball-Bundesliga. At the top of the German soccer championship system, the Bundesliga is the most important German soccer competition. The Bundesliga has 18 teams and is working with the Bundesliga on an upgrade and landing system. The seasons run from August to May. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, some games on weekdays. All Bundesliga clubs qualify for the DFB Cup. The German league winner qualifies for the German Super League.

56 clubs have participated in the German league since it was founded. Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga more and won the title 29 times. In the Bundesliga, however, other heroes belonged to Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger S.V. Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfB Stuttgart among the most important. The German League is one of the best national leagues and ranks third in Europe, based on the European Union's coefficient classification for the 2019-2020 season, based on the performance of European competition in the last five seasons. The German Bundesliga is the world's first soccer league on average. Of all sports, an average of 45,134 fans per game were the second highest tier in a sports league in the world after the American National Football League in the 2011/12 season. The Bundesliga is broadcast on television in more than 200 countries.

The Bundesliga was founded in Dortmund in 1962 and the first season began in 1963. The structure and organization of the German Bundesliga and other German leagues has been changed frequently. The German League was founded by the German Football Association and is now managed by the German Football League.
