The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities is concerned with the affairs of Lebanon’s internal policy, including preparation, coordination and implementation. It ensures the maintenance of order and security, supervises the affairs of governorates, districts, municipalities, municipal unions, the Independent Municipal Fund, mukhtars, elective councils, all elected or appointed local councils, villages, collective areas, political parties and associations, and is responsible for managing personal status, refugee affairs, civil defence affairs, machinery and traffic, and carries out everything entrusted to it by laws and regulations.
