Sūrat al-Wāqiʻah (Arabic: سورة الواقعة; "The Inevitable" or "The Event") is the 56th surah (chapter) of the Quran. It was revealed in Mecca (see Meccan surah). The total number of verses in this surah are 96.
This Surah takes its name from the first Ayat, إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ "When the Occurrence occurs," (56:1).
