According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 65% and 90% of older adults take more than three medications at the same time. This increases the risk of possible drug interactions and, therefore, adverse effects.

The European Medicines Agency estimates that 197,000 people die each year in Europe due to adverse drug effects. In the United States, adverse effects are the third leading cause of death, after heart attack and cancer.

By taking the risks associated with taking medications more seriously, it is estimated that 65% to 75% of these deaths could be prevented. The PRO-MEDICAL Interactions app can help reduce these risks by providing information on potential drug interactions.
