Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) or the ability to think at a high level is the ability to think that is not just remembering, restating, or referring without doing any processing (recite). HOTS is the ability to
1) transfer one concept to another,
2) processing and applying information,
3) looking for links from a variety of different information,
4) use information to solve problems, and
5) critical analysis of ideas and information. HOTS includes critical, logical, reflective, metacognitive, and creative thinking.
