About KSCPCR:

The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) was set up in
February 2008 and in July 2009, the State Government appointed the Chairperson and members. It is an independent statutory body under the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act 2005 (number 4 of 2006) to protect and promote child rights in the state in consonance with the provisions of the Constitution of India and the United Nations convention on Rights of the Child 1989.
Under sec. 13 of the said act, KSCPCR has the powers to inquire into complaints pertaining to violation of child rights. The Commission also functions as a civil court with respect to violation of child rights as per sec. 14 of the act. The Commission can act on receiving a complaint or can take up suo motu cognizance of violation of child rights.
