Among the etiquette of Eid prayer, it is desirable to wash and perfume and wear the most beautiful clothes. On Eid Al-Fitr, it is desirable to break the fast immediately after the dawn prayer, by eating some dates or the like before going out to prayer. It is better than performing it in mosques if possible, otherwise there is nothing wrong with doing it in mosques.

One of the characteristics of the Eid prayer is that the imam attends and leads the people in two rak’ahs, saying the first takbeer is the Ihram takbeer, then he says six or seven takbeers after the hadeeth of Aisha, may God be pleased with her: “The takbeer for al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha is seven takbeers, and in the second five takbeers apart from the two takbeers for bowing.”

Then he recites Al-Fatihah, and recites Surat Q in the first rak’ah, and in the second rak’ah he rises with magnification, and when he finishes standing, he should say five takbeers, and recite Surat Al-Fatihah, then Surat Al-Qamar “The Hour has approached and the moon has split.” These two Surahs were the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, recited on the two Eids. And if he wants, he read in the first Surat Al-Ala and in the second Surat Al-Gashiya with “Has the hadith of Al-Ghashiya come to you?” It was reported from the Prophet Muhammad that he was reciting on the feast, glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, and Al-Ghasheya.

The imam should revive the Sunnah by reciting these surahs so that Muslims know them and do not condemn them if they occur.

After the prayer, the imam addresses the people, and he should single out something of the sermon, direct it to the women, instructing them what they should do, and forbidding them what they should avoid, as the Prophet Muhammad did.

Takbeer during Eid prayer
“On the authority of Amr bin Shuaib, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said the takbeer of twelve takbirs: seven in the first and five in the hereafter, and he did not pray before or after it.” Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Majah. Ahmed said: I go to this.

And in another narration: “He said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The takbeer in the breaking of the fast is seven in the first, and five in the next, and the recitation after them both.” Narrated by Abu Dawood and Darqutni.
