Kangxi Dictionary is a book published during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The authors are Zhang Yushu, Chen Tingjing, etc. It was revised based on Mei Yingzuo's "Zihui" and Zhang Zilie's "Zhengzitong" of the Ming Dynasty. The compilation of the book began in the 49th year of Emperor Kangxi and took six years to complete, so the book is called Kangxi Dictionary. The dictionary uses the radical classification method and arranges single words according to strokes. The dictionary is divided into twelve volumes, marked by the twelve earthly branches. Each volume is divided into three volumes: upper, middle, and lower. The finals table and its corresponding Chinese characters are arranged according to the finals, tones, and syllables. A total of 47,035 Chinese characters (47,035 characters) are included, which is one of the main references for Chinese character research. Kangxi Dictionary is the first Chinese character dictionary named after a dictionary in China.
