Kitab Al-Hikam is the main work of Ibn Atha'illah, which is very popular in the Islamic world for centuries, until today. Sheikh Ibn Atha'illah presented Kitab Al-Hikam with the main support on the Al-Quran and As-Sunnah.

This Kitab Al-Hikam is the main work of Ibn 'Atha'illah, which contains words of wisdom of very high value, containing the understanding of monotheism, morality, and ma'rifatullah, Sheikh Ibn u 'Atha'illah as-Sakandari (d. 1309 AD) lived in Egypt during the Mamluk dynasty. He was born in the city of Alexandria (Iskandariyah), then moved to Cairo. It was in this city that he spent his life teaching the Imam Maliki school of jurisprudence in various intellectual institutions, including the Al-Azhar Mosque.

At the same time he is also widely known in the field of Sufism as a "master" (shaykh) the third major in the Sufi order of Syadziliyah. Ibn 'Athaillah, the author of Sharah Kitab Al Hikam is classified as a prolific scholar. No less than 20 works ever produced. The work covers the fields of Sufism, Tafseer, faith, hadith, nahwu, and ushul fiqh. Of some of his works, the most famous is Kitab Al-Hikam which is touted as his magnum opus.
