The Ogoni–English Dictionary is inspired by the legacy of Ken Saro-Wiwa. It was created to preserve, share, and digitize the Ogoni language and culture for everyone.
It began as a simple Ogoni (Khana)–English offline dictionary with pronunciation. Today, it is a free, open-source app available on Google Play and Apple Store.
The app helps users translate between Ogoni and English, listen to pronunciations, and learn about places, events, and traditions in Ogoni land. It works offline and includes light and dark themes for ease of use.
This project belongs to all of us. It is open to collaborators who wish to add more words, knowledge, and culture, so that the Ogoni language can continue to grow and thrive.
The Ogoni–English Dictionary is more than a tool. It is a shared step toward keeping our heritage alive.
