NBA Top Shot, which is not included in NonFungible.com data, has 683,000 users and has seen $396 million in sales, $232 million of which were in February.
What exactly is NFT?
A non-fungible token (NFT) is a data unit kept on a digital ledger known as a blockchain that certifies a digital asset as unique and thus non-transferable.
Most NFTs are, at a high level, part of the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum, like bitcoin and dogecoin, is a cryptocurrency, but its blockchain also enables these NFTs, which store additional information that allows them to function differently from, say, an ETH coin.

Although this may be difficult to grasp for the layman, the payback has been enormous for many artists, singers, influencers, and others, with investors paying top cash for NFT copies of digital images.
