The first Lions Club in Hong Kong was founded in 1955. After many Lions Clubs were established one after another, the Lions Club International approved the establishment of the "Lions Club International China Hong Kong and Macao Region 3O3" in 1960.

The purpose of the establishment of the Hong Kong and Macao Lions Club is to encourage people to serve the society wholeheartedly, regardless of personal rewards or interests, to serve the public, to sympathize with the poor and to help the weak and vulnerable. Over the past 60 years, through the continuous efforts of Lions Club members, the Lions Movement has flourished in Hong Kong and Macao and has gained widespread recognition.

The Young Lions Club was officially established on June 17, 1979. The original English meaning of Leo "LEO" is: Leadership, Experience & Opportunity, which means "to develop leadership skills, gain experience through social services and strive for opportunities to achieve international understanding." meaning. Young Lions clubs are established through the sponsorship of individual Lions clubs in the district.

There are currently 115 Lions clubs and 67 Young Lions clubs in the district, with more than 3,000 members.
