Brahma had not taken avatar instead believed to descend directly whenever required in Satyug, Treta, and Dwapar Yuga. However, in Kalyug, the present age, he took birth in the following forms.

Brahma is the first god in the Hindu triumvirate, or trimurti. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. The other two gods are Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma's job was creation of the world and all creatures. His name should not be confused with Brahman, who is the supreme God force present within all things.

Lord Bramha is said to be the son of God. It is said that first Brahmand, the universe created the water where the seed of life was placed. The seed eventually grew and transformed into a golden egg out of which "Hiranyagarbha" i.e., Lord Bramha took birth. There is another tale which depicts the origin of Lord Brahma as a self-born God from a lotus flower which grew out of Lord Vishnu's navel and was born to create the whole universe and devise the grand plan of its existence.

The origins of Brahma are uncertain, in part because several related words such as one for Ultimate Reality (Brahman), and priest (Brahmin) are found in the Vedic literature. The existence of a distinct deity named Brahma is evidenced in late Vedic A distinction between spiritual concept of Brahman, and deity Brahma, is that the former is a genderless abstract metaphysical concept in Hinduism,while the latter is one of the many masculine gods in Hindu tradition. The spiritual concept of Brahman is far older, and some scholars suggest deity Brahma may have emerged as a personal conception and visible icon of the impersonal universal principle called Brahman.

Lord Brahma's vahana is the Swan, which is a symbol of grace. The Swan is blessed with Neera-Ksheera Viveka, a virtue that enlightens us to detach the good from the evil and then recognize that which is valuable and abandon everything that is evil or futile.
