Albrecht Dürer, born on May 21, 1471 in Nuremberg, was a German painter and graphic artist of the Renaissance. He is considered one of the greatest artists of his time and was influenced by Italian art.
Dürer was a master of woodcut and engraving techniques and created many famous works such as "Melencolia I", "St. Jerome in his Cell" and "The Knight, the Death and the Devil"¹.
His works are characterized by a combination of Renaissance perspective and proportions as well as typically German wealth of detail. Albrecht Dürer was also a talented writer and wrote several theoretical writings on art.
