Marine mammal app is an android application which allows users to capture an image of a mammal, determine if it is dead or alive and identify its species. The user is identified by the username and phone number used when the app is first launched. After login, the user is directed to the camera, where user is allowed to take a picture of the mammal. Multiple try option is given to the user if the user does not like the captured image. The captured image is shown along with the option to choose if the mammal is dead or alive. The image and options are recorded, and a series of questions are asked to determine the species of the mammal. Questions pertaining to fin, beak, and colour of the mammal are considered to determine the species. The user is also given an option to add additional comments at the end. Along with users location and date, the above data is reported and sent to the server. Below figure 1.1 shows a flowchart of the application’s design.
