MareMakom is an open search engine, managed by the community and not by a corporation.

The search engine is based on an open wiki system, and allows content managers to edit and improve search results, similarly to what is done with encyclopedic entries onother websites and search engines.

The engine contains various useful tools, such as a utility for locating services and businesses. It also displays news headlines collected from the common news websites on the Internet.
