The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has introduced a QR code-based mobile application, named 'MCD Park Pro' (or sometimes referred to as 'MCD Ki Patti'), to tackle the frequent issue of overcharging by parking contractors at its authorized parking sites.
This new digital system aims to ensure transparency, accuracy in fee collection, and minimal human interaction.
Here is a full description of the initiative:
1. Primary Objective:
To curb and eliminate instances of overcharging by parking contractors at MCD's authorised surface and underground parking sites.
To ensure transparency and proper implementation of the fixed parking rates.
2. The System: QR Code and Mobile Application:
QR Code Installation: Unique QR codes have been installed at the entry and exit points of all authorized MCD parking lots.
'MCD Park Pro' App: The system is managed through a mobile application (or simply a mobile web page accessible via scanning the QR code).
3. Functionality for Commuters:
Entry: Upon entering the parking lot, the user scans the QR code displayed at the entry point using MCD park Pro app. This action automatically registers the entry time of the vehicle in the system.
Exit and Payment: When leaving the parking lot, the user scans the same QR code at the exit point. The system automatically captures the exit time, calculates the exact payable parking fee based on the recorded time and vehicle type, and generates the charge.
Payment Method: The parking fee can be paid digitally with options for various digital payment methods UPI/ CC/Net Banking etc. A digital payment status is generated upon successful payment.
User Convenience: Users who download the app and register their personal and vehicle details can use the QR code facility at any MCD parking site.
4. Transparency and Dispute Resolution:
The data recorded through the QR code scans, including entry and exit times and the generated fee, is accessible to the MCD, the parking contractor, and the consumer.
This digital record ensures that the correct, time-based fee is charged, directly addressing overcharging complaints.
In case of any dispute raised by a parking contractor regarding the timings or fees, the MCD can easily verify the digital details to resolve the matter.
