Miraj is the event in which the Prophet (pbuh) ascended from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa and from there into the presence of Allah. It is the night of Miraj on the 27th night of the month of Rajab. Mirac literally means ascension, ascension. The incident of Isra and Miraj took place 18 months before the Prophet's (pbuh) migration.

Allah Almighty commands:

“Allah, who took His servant (Muhammad) one night from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, in order to show him some of Our verses, is free from all kinds of deficient attributes. Surely, He is All-Knowing, All-Seeing." (al-Isra, 1)
