We support young families with a history of immigration who seek medical help with their children. To this end, we facilitate communication in paediatric healthcare.
Our aim is to make it easier to get started via language mediation and enable better participation.
To this end, we have developed this first version of the MedGuide Baby and Toddler app. It uses words and pictures to break down communication barriers. The aim is to make care at the paediatrician's safer.
How does it work? With this app, you can select initial content and choose from two of the languages provided in the app. You can freely combine the languages.
The MedGuides are developed by Edition MedGuide, published by Mandl & Schwarz, Husum. There are other themed editions.
The MedGuide Baby and Toddler app was made available by Minerva IT Services, Unterhaching, in a trusting and committed co-operation.
No health data or usage data is stored. The MedGuide Baby and Toddler app is also suitable for communicating with people who are physically impaired and have difficulty speaking. MedGuide also supports people with visual and hearing impairments. In each case, either playing the audio file or displaying the image is more helpful.
The MedGuides have also proven to be a communication bridge for refugees and people with a history of immigration, as the form of communication makes it much easier for medical teams to provide care.
This first version of the app could be realised thanks to the Dr Buhmann Foundation. We are working on further useful functions and content. To do this, we need your support. Please visit the ‘Sponsors and partners’ section in the app settings.
As the app is just being launched, we would ask you to send us feedback directly so that we can learn better.
