Abu Bakr Jaber bin Musa bin Abdul Qadir bin Jaber, known as Abu Bakr Al-Jazairi (1921-2018 AD) was born in the village of Liwa near Tolqa, which is located today in the state of Biskra, south of Algeria, in 1921 AD. He is an Algerian Sunni religious scholar and former teacher at the Prophet’s Mosque. In his town, he grew up and received his primary education. He began memorizing the Holy Qur’an and some texts in Maliki language and jurisprudence. Then he moved to the city of Biskra, and studied under its sheikhs a number of traditional and mental sciences that qualified him to teach in a private school. Then he traveled with his family to Medina, and in the Prophet’s Mosque he resumed his academic path by sitting in circles of scholars and sheikhs, after which he obtained leave from the Presidency of the Judiciary in Mecca to teach in the Prophet’s Mosque. It became a circle for him in which he studied the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, the Noble Hadith, and other things. He worked as a teacher in some schools of the Ministry of Education, and in Dar Al-Hadith in Medina, and when the Islamic University opened its doors in 1380 AH, he was one of its first professors and teachers, and he remained there until he was retired in 1406 AH. He has advocacy efforts in many of the countries he visited. He died in Medina on Wednesday, Dhu al-Hijjah 4, 1439 AH, corresponding to August 15, 2018.
