Surah Yusuf is a Meccan surah. It is distinguished by mentioning the complete story of the Prophet of God Joseph, peace be upon him, in a wonderful narrative style. It is the longest story in the Qur’an in a single context. Therefore, it was named after the Prophet of God Yusuf because it includes his story, which is the only name for it. It was said that it was the first surah that was quoted from Mecca to Medina, its arrangement is the twelfth among the surahs of the Qur’an after Surat Hud and before Surat Al-Ra’ad, and the number of its verses is one hundred and eleven verses.
