The Ataa initiative was established in September 2018 and is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to spread digital awareness among Arab users.
The Digital Ataa initiative, the first qualitative voluntary initiative, aims to encourage greater Arab participation by empowering Arab content creators with the tools they need to produce rich technical Arabic content. Digital Ataa provides logistical services, raises skills, supports the acceleration of the digital transformation process, assists non-profit sectors as well as encourages volunteer work and launches the first Arab platform for volunteers focused on uploading technical Arabic content.
To date, more than 22 million people have benefited from the initiative with more than 300 experts, more than 2,100 programs, more than 300 ambassadors and partners, and more than 293,000 members. Attaa Digital's programs include a partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, content libraries, camps and your digital path.
Ataa Digital was awarded the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Award 2020 organized by the International Telecommunication Union for cultural diversity and local content, as well as the Middle East Institute Award for Excellence and the 26th Smart Government Award in the Middle East for the ICT sector.
