An Aimsir as Gaeilge (The Weather in Irish) is a weather app that gives detailed forecasts in the Irish language. Not only does it let you know what the weather's going to be like where you are, it also teaches you lots of Irish words and phrases, with beautiful spoken Irish in the Glossary section.
An Aimsir uses data from OpenWeatherMap to give accurate and detailed forecasts for your location for each three hour period over the next five days. If you do not wish to share your location with the app, the forecast for Dublin will be displayed instead. An Aimsir’s forecasts also provide information on wind strength and direction, cloud cover and humidity.
In addition to providing weather information, the aim of the app is to present the user with as wide range of Irish language vocabulary as possible. While the app is attractively designed, with many beautiful images and informative icons, the bulk of the weather data is presented in text format, so the user is exposed to a large number of Welsh words and phrases.
An Aimsir includes a detailed glossary section where you can listen to all of the words and phrases used in the app spoken in Irish. It's the perfect tool to brush up your Irish language skills or maybe just learn a few words. ‘Bain Triail As!’ (Give it a try!).
