"Surah Yasin" or Surah Ya Sin (Arabic: ) is the 36th chapter of the Qur'an. This surah consists of 83 verses, and belongs to the Makkiyah surahs. It is named Ya Sin because this sura begins with the two Arabic alphabets Ya Sin. As well as the hidden meaning of the letters of the alphabet Alif Lam Mim or Nun which are located at the beginning of several suras of the Qur'an, so also the meaning of Ya Sin which is included in the category of mutasyaabihat verses.
