The Underground Sevastopol Museum was opened in June 2018 on the basis of the operating anti-nuclear bomb shelter Special object C-2.
Special object C-2 was built in the 50s at the height of the Cold War - the Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol was on the list of priority targets for nuclear bombing. To prevent a complete collapse of the city's management and social infrastructure following a bomb explosion, a bunker was created deep in the Central City Hill, which housed the backup offices of the main city services. Here, technical specialists were supposed to take refuge, who were supposed to start eliminating the consequences of a nuclear explosion and restoring the basic functions of its vital activity.
The facility has its own sewerage system, a filtration and air regeneration system, a water supply system, an artesian well with a depth of more than 37 meters, a radio communications center, a medical unit, a diesel power plant, and a corpse storage facility. In fact, it is a small “city” that can function autonomously at a depth of 47 meters for several days.

Since June 2018, the Museum Underground Sevastopol - Special Facility C-2 has been open for acquaintance with city residents and tourists.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Cold War of the 1950s and see with their own eyes how the city and country prepared for vigorous bombing. In addition, our guests will be able to get acquainted with modern concepts of the formation of a culture of human life safety in real everyday life.
