Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar, the month in which Muslims around the world observe Ramadan. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one-third of the fifth part of Islam. The month of Ramadan is 29 or 30 days depending on the sighting of the moon which is proved by reliable hadith. Muslims worship more during this month. Because the reward of worship is multiplied in this month as compared to other months.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
"If any one of you is fasting, let him abstain from indecency and making noise. If anyone comes to him while he is fasting, he should say, 'I am fasting.'" (Sahih Muslim: 1151-)
By fasting people keep away from bad deeds. Peace and order are maintained in the society.
