Kolsiya Tie & Dye Cluster – Weaving Tradition into Every Thread
Kolsiya Tie & Dye Cluster is a community-based textile initiative located in the culturally rich region of Kolsiya, Rajasthan. Specializing in the traditional art of Bandhani (tie & dye), our cluster brings together generations of skilled artisans who transform plain fabric into vibrant, handcrafted masterpieces using time-honored techniques.
Our journey is deeply rooted in heritage. Bandhani, one of the oldest forms of textile dyeing in India, is a labor-intensive craft that involves tying small portions of fabric with threads and dyeing them to produce intricate patterns. At Kolsiya, we take pride in preserving and promoting this centuries-old tradition while also innovating with contemporary designs and eco-friendly practices.
The cluster comprises over 100 artisan families, most of whom have inherited this art from their ancestors. Each piece created here reflects not only the artisan's craftsmanship but also the cultural identity of the region. We work with natural dyes and high-quality fabrics such as cotton, silk, and georgette to create a wide range of products, including sarees, dupattas, stoles, dress materials, and home decor items.
Our mission goes beyond fabric. Kolsiya Tie & Dye Cluster is committed to empowering local artisans, especially women, by providing them with sustainable livelihoods, skill development, and market access. Through partnerships with government initiatives, NGOs, and buyers across India and abroad, we are helping rural artisans reach global markets while ensuring fair trade and ethical production.
Whether you're a fashion designer looking for unique textiles, a boutique retailer, or a conscious consumer who values handmade products, Kolsiya Tie & Dye Cluster offers a colorful blend of tradition, quality, and sustainability.
