The “Supply Chain Management Project for HIV/AIDS
Commodities under the National AIDS Control Program
(NACP)” aims to strengthen the technical capacity of the
National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and State AIDS
Control Societies (SACS) to design, manage and monitor
supply chain for increased access of high quality ARV drugs,
HIV testing kits and other commodities across India.
The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Supply
Chain Management (SCM) of HIV/AIDS commodities
including ARV drugs, HIV testing kits and other
commodities have been developed considering the
changes in approach and strategy adopted for supply chain
management of ARV drugs over the last few years under
the National AIDS Control Program (NACP).
The SOPs will serve as a guiding tool for all the supply chain
staff across State AIDS Control Societies (SACS) and
facilities to manage the supply chain of HIV/AIDS drugs and
commodities in an effective and efficient manner.
Increased knowledge and skills of staff engaged in delivery
of care and treatment of HIV/AIDS will help in improving
the management of HIV/AIDS commodities at all levels of
the supply chain. This would also help in standardizing
systems and processes and guide the work of supply chain

staff at different levels.
