Bruce Lee was best known as a martial artist and film star with martial arts themes, but he was also a professional, influential and admired businessman. In the sixties, he opened a small chain of kung fu studios where he taught his own style called John Van Gong Fu. His full knowledge of this and his skill and mastery in the martial arts made the schools he founded successful.

What helped Bruce Lee succeed was that he had learned to apply the wisdom of one part of his life to other parts of his life. He did not care about the traditions and artificial boundaries of knowledge. He only cared about what worked. That's when he created his own style of kung fu. He did not hesitate to borrow techniques from fencing, boxing and even dance.

 He used his knowledge of martial arts and eastern philosophy to succeed in business. Of course he did not create anything new, but he saw communications that others could not see.


Bruce Lee has been dead for 40 years, but he still remains a champion for millions around the world. He has earned this enduring reputation from the innovation and rejection of the boundaries and limitations that have stood before him. Like other people, he had excuses for failures, but he would not let fear control his life. He had an amazing ability to turn the competition around for himself.
