Genesis is the book of the beginnings of the world and man. It is also called the book of origins, because through its pages we take cognizance of the amazing events and facts that surround the origins of the world and humanity. The book of Genesis does not only talk about the world and the man, but it gives us a glimpse of God, the creator whose works are admirable and who himself declared that all he had done was very good (Genesis 1:31). We say a glimpse, because we have no details about the precise periods concerning the beginning of the world or man. One fact is certain: there was creation, and the creator - God - did things well. It is not by chance that the flowers of the fields, with their varied colors and forms, are so beautiful to behold and contemplate, that the fruits of our gardens are so delicious, that the many living forms in the water and on the Each earth breeds according to its kind - including man. No, it is not a happy coincidence but a plan conceived and executed by the one whose works are perfect (Deuteronomy 32.4). Genesis is the book that tells us about the early stages of man's moral development - his downfall and God's plan for his restoration and recovery. Although man has sinned, God has not forsaken him; and if the first man has deceived God in his innocent state, many of his descendants have, in their state of sin, obeyed the voice of God and have walked humbly in the path of justice. In this introduction we highlight two of these descendants mentioned in the book of Genesis: Abraham and Joseph. Abraham is well known as the father of faith in whom all the nations of the earth are blessed. He received the call of God to go to Canaan, and he obeyed it without really knowing where he was going. He is the father of Ishmael - the ancestor of the Arabs - and the grandfather of Israel (Jacob) - the ancestor of the Israelites. Through it, these two bitterly opposed ethnic groups can find, by faith, their unity and reconciliation. Joseph's life is so important that the book of Genesis devoted fourteen chapters to him (37-50). We consider these chapters in the last three lessons. It is said that Joseph is a type of Christ. This is true. We see it as a symbol of forgiving love and the right path to take (see Genesis 50.20).
