According to a mandate approved by the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways, all public transport vehicles will have to be fitted with VLTs (vehicle location tracking) and panic buttons starting 1 January 2019.This VLTS Emergency Stop Mobile App facilitates to the Command and Control Centre to automate the SMS service to the VLTS devices that are in emergency stage and the further proceedings of the action related to the emergency situation has been resolved.The new Motor Vehicles (Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Emergency Button) Order, 2018 will apply to all public transport vehicles that come under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which means auto rickshaws and e-rickshaws will be exempted. The rule will apply to vehicles registered on or after 1 January.Ministry of Road Transport & Highways amended CMVR by inserting rule 125H , mandating fitment of Vehicle Location Tracking Device & Emergency Button (VLTD) in all public service vehicles.
