Simhadri Station is situated in a low potential area and other ash utilization avenues on account of Export etc., being explored for improving dry ash utilization. Besides providing of 3X500 MT, 3X1200 MT, 2X1200 MT and 1X500 MT capacity silos, Rail Loading facility is also available for ash disposal.

In the process of generation of 2000 MW electricity, about 30.00 Lakh MT of ash is produced as a by product from the burning of coal. As per MOEF & CC Gazette Notification and its subsequent amendments on Ash Utilisation, 20% of fly ash is to be earmarked for Brick / Block manufacturers and is to be issued free of cost. The remaining ash is to be issued to Cement , RMC and other ash users. About 310 ash users are registered with NTPC-Simhadri , for lifting of ash.
