SAGE, Scheme of Development and Water Management, is a water management planning tool in France. At a local level, it takes into account a range of topics related to water resources management and protection. SAGE is based on a consultation of local actors to reconcile the satisfaction of different uses: drinking water, agriculture, industry, leisure ... while preserving aquatic environments.

Water management combines technical elements of the social, political and economic. It's not always easy to understand how planning tools and to have an overall vision. This enriched digital book was designed by the International Office for Water (IOW) with the aim to present the SAGE actors who are not specialists in the field of water.

It allows you to go beyond linear playback with the ability to access all the sections from each page and link pages to each other. The pages are organized so that important information is accessible directly, then the user may have more information through various media: drawings, videos, maps, slide shows ...

This interactive tool explains what SAGE, what it does and how it is implemented. It includes the actors involved in the development and implementation of SAGE, and their role. An overview of existing similar initiatives in other European countries is also proposed, and a review of the current status of SAGE in France.
