The box was formed on September 27, 2004 during The Dream Band in 2004. The box was born under the guidance of one of the Jasmine Trias personnel, Doddy, who acted as a producer. At that time, Doddy auditioned to form a new band format in Indonesia consisting of drummer, guitarist, bassist, and vocalist.
The audition was enough to get a response from teenage musicians who want to try their luck in the music industry. A total of 400 vocalists, 170 bassists, hundreds of guitarists, and hundreds of drummers cram the audition site. After auditioning by considering various assessment formats, 2 vocalists, 2 bassists, 3 guitarists, and 2 drummers were chosen. The selected young musicians were later re-assembled into two bands namely Kotak with four personnel and "Lima" with five personnel. The name of the box has the meaning of four sides and four corners that unite into the building of the box. It describes four different people who are united in one music container. Then they released their first single titled "Myself" on The Dream Band's album "Eight".
The formation of the band band at that time was not as it is now. The formation of the first band was filled by Cella (guitar), Icez (bass), Pare (vocals), and Posan (drums). They then released their first album titled Kotak under the auspices of the HMR label. His debut songs on the album include "Missing", "Flying (Imagined)", "You Choose Him", "Peaceful Heart" and "When You're Far"
