Before talking about the Omsk region during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, let's take a look at the map of 1939.
Omsk region before the war was much larger. It included the lands of the present Kurgan and Tyumen regions. Omsk region bordered on the Arkhangelsk, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk regions, the Komi ASSR, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Kazakh SSR. The northern borders were washed by the waters of the Kara Sea. The population of the Omsk region within the borders of 1939 was about 2,235,000 people, and about 290,000 people lived in the city of Omsk itself.
During the war, the territory of the Omsk region significantly decreased: in 1943 the Armizonsky, Berdyuzhsky, Isetsky and Uporovsky districts were transferred to the newly formed Kurgan region, and in 1944 the Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets national districts, the Tobolsk district and Abatsky, were transferred to the newly formed Tyumen region. Aromashevsky, Velizhanovsky, Vikulovsky, Golyshmanovsky, Ishimsky, Kazansky, Maslyansky, Nizhnetavdinsky, Novozaimsky, Omutinsky, Sorokinsky, Tyumensky, Yurginsky and Yalutorovsky regions.
Speaking about the labor feat of the inhabitants of the Omsk land during the war years, we will remember that the inhabitants of the lands that were transferred to the new regions made a significant contribution to this feat. Let's remember how it was!
