Planinski vestnik (abbreviation is PV, Slovenian spelling) is considered the oldest Slovenian magazine that is still published!
In its first issue in February 1895, the Planin Vestnik presented itself to the public with the following program: "In order for the Slovenian Mountaineering Society to achieve its purpose (to publish, promote and support interesting mountain-related writings and pictures), the committee 'Sl. pl. dr.' since 1985, starting to publish a monthly dedicated to mild mountaineering, which will publish interesting lectures and various mountaineering writings and pictures."

In all periods, the Mountain Journal was a mirror of the work of the mountain organization, mountain culture, a reflection of the general conditions and mental experience of the mountains of Slovenes.

What kind of content do we bring?

The genres are really diverse, in PV we can find: information on the most important events in mountaineering, from organizational, social and economic, to sports, expeditions and others, scientific and popular scientific articles on the history of mountaineering, orography, meteorology, glaciology, speleology, toponymy and of other sciences, mountain and mountaineering travelogues, articles on nature and nature conservation, fiction contributions, poems and literary reviews.
