Primbon in Islamic Perspective
Primbon as a culture, its birth and development cannot be separated from the influence of Islam in the archipelago, especially on the island of Java. Primbon which is commonly referred to as 'slamet science' adopted many Islamic values with Hindu and Buddhist elements that were still attached. At first the primbons in the form of personal notes were only passed down and passed down within the royal family and palace servants. Only in the 20th century did the primbons begin to be printed and circulated freely. The oldest Primbon print in the year 1906 AD was published by De Bliksem.
