Mohamed Salah Hamed Mahrous Ghali (born June 15, 1992, in Nagrig, Egypt), is an Egyptian international footballer, who plays in the right wing position with Liverpool club in the English Premier League and the Egyptian national team. He is considered one of the most prominent Arab and African players, as he won many awards, most notably the Best Player Award in England 2018, the Goal of the Season Award in the Premier League for the 2017-18 season, the African Confederation Award for Best Player in Africa for the years 2017 and 2018, and the Best African Player Award by the BBC SC for 2017 and 2018, the best player in the Premier League for 2018, and the Golden Boot award in the Premier League (Premier League top scorer) in 2018 and 2019. He was selected by Time magazine in 2019 among the 100 most influential people in the world.
He started his career in the junior ranks of the Arab Contractors club until he was promoted to the first team, then he went professional in Europe and joined the Swiss club Basel, Chelsea of England, Fiorentina, Roma of the Italians and his current club Liverpool, England. Salah achieved with his first European club Basel many titles, winning with him the title of the Swiss Super League season 2012-2013, and the award for best player in the Swiss Super League for the year 2013, then Mohammed Salah joined the English club Chelsea and won with them the title of the Premier League season 2014 –15 as well as the 2014-15 English League Cup, but he did not mainly participate with the team, then he moved on loan to Italian club Fiorentina, then moved to Roma and participated with him throughout the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons in 83 matches, in which he scored 34 goals.
At the international level, Mohamed Salah played with the Egyptian youth team in the 2011 FIFA Youth World Cup, then the Egyptian Olympic team in the London 2012 Olympics and won the Best Rising Player award in Africa for the year 2012, then he participated with the Egyptian national team first, and his first international match was during the qualifiers for the 2013 African Cup of Nations. Against Sierra Leone, then he participated in the African qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup and the qualifiers for the 2015 African Cup of Nations. The Egyptian team did not succeed in qualifying for any of the three championships, but Salah was the top scorer in the African qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup, scoring 6 goals with Asamoah Gyan and Mohamed Abu Trika. And he was chosen in the African Team of the Year in 2016. After that, the Egyptian national team qualified for the 2017 African Cup of Nations and succeeded in that tournament in reaching the final of the tournament, but they achieved the runner-up position after losing to Cameroon by 1-2 in the final and was chosen in the ideal squad for the Cup African Nations 2017. He also actively participated in the Egyptian national team’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup after an absence since the 1990 World Cup, by scoring the two goals of Egypt's victory over the Congo 2-1, a match that guaranteed his country’s qualification for the World Cup.
