REcovery after Cancer application - RECapp app is developed for patients who have undergone surgery for esophageal or gastric cancer for curative purposes. The app has been developed to facilitate recovery after surgery and reduce the burden of symptoms in everyday life.
With RECapp, patients can:
- Report symptoms via questionnaire
- Follow your mood over time
- Get individualized self-care advice
- If necessary, you are asked to contact healthcare
What the patient reports in the app is reflected in the **RECapp healthcare portal**, which is intended for qualified healthcare personnel – primarily the patient's contact nurse. In this way, the app can function as a support for both patient and healthcare staff in the dialogue around recovery.
The app is intended for adult patients (≥18 years) after surgery for esophageal or gastric cancer. It is optimized for use during the period after discharge from hospital and up to at least six months after surgery.
ATTENTION! RECapp is not intended for:
- Patients who have not been operated on for esophageal or gastric cancer for curative purposes
- Emergency situations – in case of serious symptoms, the patient must immediately contact the healthcare system
- (Patients who cannot self-report symptoms reliably due to cognitive impairment or language barriers)
- (Patients who cannot understand written information)
RECapp is a support in everyday life, but does not replace healthcare. In case of concern or deteriorating health, care should always be contacted.
RECapp can be downloaded by patients participating in the RECapp study.
