The Brass Band sound is very unique. It has been popular in the UK for nearly 200 years. Thousands of bands from around the world compete for top honors in the country. There are bands in the UK, Europe, United States, Austrailia, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.

This musical sound has a unique blend that cannot be expressed fully. A Brass Band can sound nearly like a symphony at times, and other times like a Big Band sound of the 40's and 50's.

A big part of the Brass Band heritage comes from the early Salvation Army bands. They are still a huge part of Brass Banding, playing both traditional Salvation Army tunes and the most modern of Brass Banding tunes.

There are worldwide national competitions in the UK, US and Canada, Europe, Austrailia and New Zealand. Europe has a European Championship.
