Female Curió calling a lot - Curiós are popular birds for their very unique, beautiful and melodic song. It is a bird from the Thraupidae family and, despite the scientific name sporophila angolensis suggesting its origins in Angola, the curió is a species from our South American territory, and can be found from Venezuela to southern Brazil. In Tupi-Guarani, the name curió means “friend of man”.

They have a robust and strong beak, males have dark plumage and a reddish brown breast, while females and juveniles have lighter brown plumage. As adults, they can reach 15cm in height and weigh 11 to 15 grams.
