Geckos are a type of lizard that may be found all over the world, with the exception of Antarctica. They are often carnivorous, despite their small size. Geckos, which are members of the infraorder Gekkota, can be discovered in regions with warm climates all around the world. They can be anywhere between 1.6 and 60 centimeters in length (0.6 to 23.6 inches).

Geckos stand out among lizards due to their distinct vocalizations, which may be distinguished between different gecko species. The majority of geckos belonging to the family Gekkonidae communicate with one another by chirping or clicking sounds. Some species of gecko, such as the Gekko gecko and the Tokay gecko, are able to make a hissing sound when they are scared or feel threatened. Tokay geckos are famous for their loud mating cries. They are the most diverse group of lizards and can be found all over the world in around 1,500 different species. [1] The Indonesian-Malay word gkoq, from which the New Latin word gekko and the English word "gecko" derive, is an imitation of the sounds that certain species of gecko make.
