Charles John Huffam Dickens was born on 7 February 1812, at 1 Mile End Terrace , Landport in Portsea Island (Portsmouth), the second of eight children of John Dickens (1785–1851) and Elizabeth Dickens (née Barrow; 1789–1863). Charles Dickens is much loved for his great contribution to classic English literature. He was the quintessential Victorian author.

His epic stories, vivid characters and exhaustive depiction of contemporary life are unforgettable. .
