Since January 1, 2021, statutory health insurance holders have had free access to an electronic patient record (ePA) from their health insurance company. You can voluntarily manage your health data securely for life. As the insured person, you have sole control over your data and can determine whether and who should have access to your record, and for how long. Often, you have to see a doctor for even the smallest of issues, or even multiple doctors, and are examined twice or three times. This usually results in a lot of paperwork. But it could be so much easier. With the electronic patient record, known by the abbreviation "ePA," you can easily apply for an ePA through your health insurance company. It is your personal digital storage location for your health data, like a safe, to which only you have the key and can decide which data you want to store and share. With your approval, doctors can store diagnoses, findings, or medication plans for you in the ePA. And many more features are planned for the future. If a doctor now needs your findings or documents, they first need the appropriate key, meaning explicit authorization from you. Of course, you no longer have to lug a safe around with you all the time; you can now conveniently transfer your data online and digitally. Unnecessary doctor visits are now a thing of the past. This makes your life much easier and at the same time relieves the burden on those involved in the healthcare system! You always keep track of your health data – and thus have your medication plan quickly at hand. With the ePA, you prevent duplicate examinations and thus save yourself and the doctors a lot of time and valuable stress!

Security
As a statutory health insurance provider, we ensure the best possible protection of your health data. To ensure that only you or people authorized by you have access to your ePA, we will securely identify you once. To do so, use one of the following options:

• Activation code: We will identify you at one of our branches and provide you with an activation code.
• POSTIDENT: Choose between identification at the post office, via video chat, or with your electronic ID card.
• Health card (eGK): Use your eGK and the associated PIN.
